Das versetzt uns in die Lage, tiefere Empathie zu empfinden, aber leider auch entsetzlichere Grausamkeiten zu begehen als andere Tiere. Dazu: Glossar, Literatur-, Namens- und Sachverzeichnis. Spekulation oder gesicherte Erkenntnis? Wo besteht weiterer Forschungsbedarf? Das Lehrbuch mag nach zehn Jahren etwas veraltet sein, aber mir ist kein vergleichbar umfassendes anderes Grundlagenwerk zur Evolutionspsychologie bekannt.

In fact, I was trying my best to avoid it. Now that I've read it - cover to cover - I can't stop talking about it! In fact, I find that I'm constantly referencing aspects of it almost daily!

Even more amazing is how evolutionary psychology has become the unifying subject that has blended my previous interdisclipnary studies within the psych field. Evolutionary psychology, an emerging approach to human nature, based on Darwinian principles, draws upon the history and research on our primate ancestors, and presents startling parallels to contemporary life.

In the process, it touches upon a plethora of topics that are covered in other psychology fields, but presented in a much broader context. I found the information on status and mating strategies to be especially eye-opening. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking perspective on how, and why, really are animals, or at least animal-like, in our quest for reproduction, survival, and success.
